5. Bookings and Agreements
When a rental booking is confirmed:
- A rental agreement is formed directly between Host and Renter.
- Rentify is not a party to this agreement.
When a service booking is confirmed:
- A service agreement is formed directly between the Service Provider and the Customer.
- Rentify is not a party to this agreement.
- The Customer is charged the full package price plus a 10% platform service fee at checkout.
- The Service Provider receives the full package price they set.
All pricing, duration, packages, and availability must be clearly displayed prior to payment.
6. Payments and Platform Fees
Payments are processed securely via Stripe.
For rental bookings:
- The Renter is charged the full rental amount.
- A 10% platform service fee is added to the rental price and charged to the Renter. The Owner receives the full amount they set.
For service bookings:
- The Customer is charged the package price selected at booking.
- A 10% platform service fee is added and charged to the Customer. The Service Provider receives the full package price they set.
- Payments are held securely until the service has been delivered and confirmed.
- Payouts to Service Providers are released only after the Customer confirms delivery or after a 24-hour automatic confirmation window following the appointment.
Funds are held through Stripe and are not held in Rentify's own bank account.
Rentify does not act as a financial institution or escrow provider. However, Rentify holds service booking payments in a protected state until delivery is confirmed, to protect both Customers and Service Providers.
7. Security Deposits
Hosts may set an optional refundable security deposit on their listings. When a deposit is set:
- The Renter pays the rental amount plus the security deposit at checkout.
- The deposit is held securely via Stripe until the item is returned.
Return Code Process:
- Upon payment, a unique 6-digit return code is generated for the booking.
- Only the Host can view this code in the app.
- When the Renter returns the item in satisfactory condition, the Host verbally provides the return code to the Renter.
- The Renter enters the code in the app to trigger an instant refund of the deposit to their original payment method.
- The booking is then marked as completed and the Host's payout is released.
Automatic Refund:
- If the return code is not used within 7 days after the rental end date and no dispute has been filed, the deposit is automatically refunded to the Renter.
The Host should not share the return code until they are satisfied the item has been returned in acceptable condition. Once the code is entered and the refund is processed, it cannot be reversed.
If there is a dispute about item condition, the Host should file a damage report before sharing the return code.
8. Payouts to Hosts and Service Providers
Rental Payouts:
Payouts to Hosts are triggered after the rental start time, provided that:
- Required pre-rental documentation has been submitted.
- No dispute or damage report is active.
- No fraud or policy violation is suspected.
Service Payouts:
Payouts to Service Providers are subject to the following payment protection process:
- After a Service Provider marks a booking as completed, the payout enters a 24-hour confirmation window.
- The Customer may confirm the service was delivered as described, which releases the payout immediately.
- If the Customer does not respond within 24 hours after the appointment end time, the payout is automatically released to the Service Provider.
- If a Service Provider cancels a confirmed booking, payment is automatically refunded in full to the Customer and no payout is issued.
Rentify reserves the right to delay, pause, or withhold any payout during investigations.
9. Pre-Rental Condition Documentation
Before rental start, Hosts may be required to upload photographic evidence of the item's condition.
These materials:
- Are timestamped
- Stored as part of booking records
- Used for dispute resolution purposes
Failure to provide required documentation may result in payout delay or booking cancellation.
10. Pickup Confirmation
At rental start time, Renters must confirm receipt of the item through the platform.
When confirmation is submitted, the system records:
- Timestamp (server-side)
- Associated account
- Relevant session metadata
If confirmation is not provided within a reasonable timeframe, the system may automatically mark the rental as started and initiate review procedures.
11. Return Confirmation and Damage Reporting
At rental end, Hosts must confirm:
- Item returned in good condition; or
- Damage occurred.
If damage is reported:
- Supporting evidence may be required.
- Payout may be paused.
- A dispute case may be opened.
Rentify may review all evidence and determine an appropriate resolution, including full payout, partial refund, full refund, or account action.
12. Dispute Resolution
If a dispute arises:
- Both parties agree to cooperate in good faith.
- Rentify may review booking logs, confirmations, uploaded evidence, and communication records.
- Rentify maintains digital logs of booking activity and system confirmations for fraud prevention and dispute resolution.
Decisions are made at Rentify's discretion in accordance with these Terms.
Payment chargebacks initiated outside the platform may result in account suspension.
13. Services Marketplace
Rentify's Services marketplace allows individuals ("Service Providers") to offer local services to other users ("Customers"). Services may include, but are not limited to, photography, catering, beauty, fitness, tutoring, cleaning, pet care, and events.
Service Providers:
- Must accurately describe their service, qualifications, and experience.
- Must set honest pricing through service packages (per group or per person).
- Must maintain accurate availability calendars.
- Are responsible for holding any licences, certifications, or insurance required by UK law for their service.
- Must honour confirmed bookings or cancel within the stated cancellation policy.
Customers:
- Must select a package, date, and time slot before booking.
- Are charged the package price plus a 10% platform service fee at checkout via Stripe.
- Must arrive at the agreed time and location or provide reasonable notice if unable to attend.
Rentify is not a party to any service agreement. Service Providers are independent individuals, not employees, agents, or contractors of Rentify.
Payment Protection:
Rentify protects both Customers and Service Providers through a 3-layer payment protection system:
- Held Payments: Customer payments are held securely and only released after service delivery is confirmed.
- Customer Confirmation: After the Service Provider marks a booking as completed, the Customer has 24 hours to confirm the service was delivered as described.
- Automatic Release: If the Customer does not confirm or dispute within 24 hours after the appointment, the payout is automatically released to the Service Provider.
- Provider Cancellation Protection: If a Service Provider cancels a confirmed booking for any reason, the Customer always receives a full automatic refund regardless of the cancellation policy.
Service Cards:
Rentify provides digital service cards with QR codes to help Service Providers promote their services. These cards link directly to the service listing. Rentify does not guarantee bookings or enquiries resulting from card distribution.
14. Promotional Services
Rentify offers optional paid promotional services to increase listing and service visibility.
Promotion options may include time-limited boosts (e.g., 3-day, 7-day, 30-day).
Promotion fees:
- Are charged immediately upon purchase.
- Are non-refundable once activated.
- Provide visibility enhancement only.
Rentify does not guarantee specific views, enquiries, bookings, or revenue resulting from promotional services.
Promotional services are separate from rental and service transactions and do not affect booking payout timelines.
15. Cancellations and Refunds
Host / Rental Cancellation
If a Host cancels a confirmed rental booking, the Renter will receive a full refund.
Renter Cancellation
Refund eligibility depends on timing and stated cancellation terms.
Service Booking Cancellations
Each service listing specifies a cancellation policy set by the Service Provider. Customer cancellations are subject to the chosen policy:
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before — full refund if cancelled more than 24h before the appointment.
- Free cancellation up to 1 hour before — full refund if cancelled more than 1h before the appointment.
- Non-refundable — no refund once confirmed.
Provider cancellations are handled differently:
- If a Service Provider cancels a confirmed booking for any reason, the Customer always receives a full automatic refund.
- The Service Provider's cancellation policy does not apply when the cancellation is initiated by the Provider.
- Repeated cancellations by a Service Provider may result in account review or suspension.
Misrepresentation
If an item is materially misrepresented or unavailable at rental start, or a service is not delivered as described, a refund may be issued after review.
16. Limitation of Liability
Rentify is not liable for:
- Damage to items
- Personal injury or dissatisfaction with services
- Loss of income
- Indirect or consequential damages
Users participate in rentals and service bookings at their own risk.
17. Account Suspension
Rentify may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Fraudulent activity
- Repeated disputes or chargebacks
- Policy violations
- Listing prohibited items
18. Data and Record Keeping
Rentify stores booking logs, confirmation records, uploaded evidence, and communication history for operational, security, and dispute resolution purposes.
19. Vehicle Rentals
Vehicle rentals on Rentify are conducted directly between users (Hosts and Renters). Rentify is a technology platform only and is not a rental company.
Insurance and Legal Responsibility:
- Owners (Hosts) must ensure their vehicle is covered by motor insurance that explicitly permits rental or hire use. Standard personal motor insurance policies typically do not cover this use. It is the Host's sole responsibility to verify and maintain appropriate cover.
- Renters must ensure they hold a valid driving licence, are legally permitted to drive the vehicle, and are covered by appropriate insurance for the rental period.
- Rentify does not provide, arrange, or verify any vehicle insurance.
Rentify accepts no liability for:
- Road traffic accidents, injuries, or deaths
- Damage to the vehicle or third-party property
- Motoring fines, penalties, or legal proceedings
- Loss arising from driving without valid insurance or licence
- Any dispute arising from or related to a vehicle rental
Roadworthiness:
Hosts are responsible for ensuring that any vehicle listed is roadworthy, has a valid MOT (where required), holds current road tax, and complies with all applicable UK motoring laws.
By listing or booking a vehicle on Rentify, users confirm they have read and understood this section and accept full personal responsibility for insurance, legal compliance, and safety.
20. Late Returns
Renters are expected to return all rented items by the agreed rental end date and time as confirmed at booking.
Grace Period:
A 2-hour grace period is provided after the agreed return time. No late fees apply during this period.
Late Return Fees:
If an item is not returned within 2 hours of the agreed return time, a late fee will automatically be charged to the Renter's payment method on file. The late fee is calculated at 1.5× the item's daily rental rate for each additional calendar day (or part thereof) that the item remains unreturned.
For example: if the daily rate is £20, the late fee is £30 per additional day or part thereof.
Mandatory Communication:
Renters who anticipate a late return must notify the Host and contact Rentify Support before the agreed return time. Failure to communicate forfeits any goodwill consideration and late fees will be applied in full.
Booking Extension:
Renters may request a booking extension before the return time, subject to Host approval and additional payment at the standard daily rate. Extensions must be agreed through the platform — informal arrangements between Host and Renter are not recognised.
Deposit Forfeiture:
If an item is returned more than 24 hours late without prior communication, Rentify reserves the right to withhold part or all of the security deposit to cover outstanding late fees. Any deposit amount withheld in excess of late fees due will be returned to the Renter.
Lost Booking Liability:
If a late return directly causes a Host to lose a confirmed subsequent booking, the Renter may be held liable for the value of that lost rental. Rentify may deduct this amount from the Renter's payment method or security deposit following a review.
Repeat Late Returns:
Renters with two or more late returns within any 12-month period may face account restrictions, reduced booking eligibility, or suspension from the platform.
21. Liability, Safety & Responsibilities
1. Marketplace Role
Rentify is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects users for the rental of items and booking of services. Rentify is not the owner, supplier, or provider of any listed items or services and is not a party to any rental or service agreement between users.
2. No Inspection or Warranty
Rentify does not inspect, verify, or guarantee the safety, condition, legality, or suitability of any item listed on the platform. All items are provided by independent users.
3. Owner Responsibilities
By listing an item on Rentify, you confirm that:
- The item is in safe working condition
- You are not aware of any faults or defects
- The item is suitable for its intended use
- The item complies with all applicable laws and regulations
Owners must not list unsafe, defective, or prohibited items.
4. Renter Responsibilities
By renting an item through Rentify, you agree that:
- You are responsible for using the item safely and correctly
- You will follow any instructions provided and manufacturer guidelines
- You have the necessary knowledge and ability to use the item safely
- You accept full responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from misuse, negligence, or failure to follow proper safety procedures
5. Use at Your Own Risk
All rentals are undertaken at the renter's own risk. Users are solely responsible for ensuring that items are suitable and safe for their intended use.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rentify shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, damage, or injury arising out of or in connection with:
- The use or misuse of any item rented through the platform
- Any interaction, agreement, or dispute between users
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. User-to-User Agreement
Any rental agreement is strictly between the owner and the renter. Rentify is not responsible for enforcing agreements, resolving disputes, or guaranteeing the performance of either party.
22. User Safety, Reporting and Content Moderation
Rentify is a user-to-user service regulated under the UK Online Safety Act 2023. We take the safety of our users seriously and operate a proportionate content moderation system.
Reporting illegal or harmful content
Every listing, service, profile and message thread includes a Report option. You can also email reports to support@rentify.market. Reports are reviewed by our team and acknowledged within 5 working days. Where content is illegal or breaches these Terms it will be removed promptly, and where appropriate the relevant authorities will be notified.
Categories we act on
- Illegal content (including content covered by Schedule 5–7 of the Online Safety Act 2023)
- Prohibited items and services as listed in section 4a
- Fraud, scams and impersonation
- Harassment, threats, hate speech and abuse
- Child sexual abuse material (zero-tolerance — reported to the relevant authority)
- Content that risks the safety of users offline (e.g., facilitating violence)
Moderation tools
We use a combination of automated detection (including contact-information and prohibited-content filters), user reports and human review. Decisions to remove content or restrict accounts may be appealed by contacting Support within 14 days of the action.
Children
Rentify is for users aged 18 and over only. Accounts found to belong to under-18s will be removed.
23. Anti-Circumvention and Communication Monitoring
All bookings and payments must be completed through Rentify. Attempting to take a transaction off-platform deprives both parties of payment protection, dispute support, deposit handling and insurance disclosures, and is a breach of these Terms.
Automated message scanning
To enforce this policy, prevent fraud and protect users from scams, in-platform messages, listing descriptions, service descriptions and review text are automatically scanned for:
- Phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses given before a booking is confirmed
- Links to external messaging platforms or payment methods
- Patterns associated with known scams, harassment or prohibited items
Messages or listings that contain such content may be blocked, redacted or flagged for human review. Repeat attempts to circumvent the platform may result in warnings, fee adjustments, account suspension or termination, and forfeiture of pending payouts.
This scanning is automated and proportionate. Message content is not used for advertising or sold to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how message data is processed and retained.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
