Under the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA) (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), online marketplaces are required to publish product safety and compliance information. This page sets out the labels and markings applicable to Rentify and the items listed on our platform.
About Rentify
Service description
Rentify (rentify.market) is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace operating in the United Kingdom. We connect private individuals who wish to rent out items they own with people who wish to borrow them. Rentify is not a retailer or manufacturer of physical goods.
Legal classification
Rentify operates as an online marketplace intermediary and hosting service provider as defined under DSA Article 3. We do not sell, manufacture, or distribute physical products.
Trader status
Rentify has self-identified as a trader in App Store Connect under the Digital Services Act framework.
Product Safety — Responsibilities of Listers
All users who list items on Rentify are responsible for ensuring that the items they offer for rent:
- Are safe for use and comply with applicable UK and EU product safety legislation
- Carry any required conformity markings (e.g. UKCA, CE) where legally required
- Are accurately described in the listing, including any relevant safety information
- Are maintained in a safe and functional condition throughout the rental period
Rentify does not verify compliance markings on individual listings but reserves the right to remove listings that do not meet safety standards upon notification.
Common Conformity Markings
UKCA UK Conformity Assessed
Required for certain products placed on the Great Britain market. Applies to electrical equipment, machinery, personal protective equipment, and similar categories.
CE Conformité Européenne
Required for certain products sold or rented within the EU/EEA. Indicates conformity with applicable EU health, safety, and environmental protection standards.
WEEE Electrical & Electronic Equipment
Items classified as electrical or electronic equipment may be subject to WEEE regulations. Users are responsible for appropriate disposal of such items at end of life.
Reporting Non-Compliant Listings
If you encounter a listing on Rentify that you believe poses a safety risk or lacks required compliance markings, you can report it directly within the Rentify app by tapping "Report this listing" on the listing page, or by contacting us at:
