Welcome to the Rentify blog. We built Rentify because most of what we own sits unused most of the time — drills in the cupboard, bikes in the shed, cameras in the drawer. The sharing economy works best when it's local, trusted, and easy. That's the whole pitch.
What you'll find here
We'll be writing short, practical posts on three things:
- Renting smarter. How to find what you need locally, what to check before you collect, and how to avoid hidden costs.
- Earning as a host. Pricing your listings, photographing them well, and handling deposits with confidence.
- The UK sharing economy. What's working, what isn't, and where Rentify fits in.
No fluff, no listicles. Just things that actually help.
Why now
The cost of buying anything new — a drill, a tent, a steam cleaner — has climbed steadily over the past few years. Meanwhile, the average UK household owns thousands of pounds of items that get used a handful of times a year. Renting from a neighbour is faster than ordering from Amazon, cheaper than buying new, and keeps money in your local community.
We want Rentify to be the obvious first place people check before they buy.
What's coming
Over the next few weeks expect posts on:
- A first-timer's guide to listing your first item
- The five photos every listing needs
- How Stripe deposit protection works on Rentify
- City spotlights — starting with London, Manchester and Bristol
